My husband sent me this link. Ten things Not to say to an adoptive parent. You can check it out if you would like to..

It's making me want to copy it with ten things NOT to say to a birthmother or how about adoptees writing ten things NOT to say to them.

I think we all can agree that people say the craziest things to those involved in adoption. What's the worst thing anyone has said to you?

I'm sure if you look you could find lists for adoptees and birth parents.

Here's my story: Upon finding out that my baby was adopted an acquaintance said, "I didn't know she wasn't yours." My reply was, "She IS mine, just in a different way." Then she acknowledged her error and stated how bad what she had said must have sounded.

The worst thing a stranger has ever said to me about adoption was when a woman on a couponing website called me a "brood sow" upon discovering my first mother status. Ugh.
